I have figured it out! One can simply uninstall, reinstall, and downgrade their STALKER versions for their saves to work again! The process only takes a few steps: 1. Install the game. Start it up once to the Main Menu screen, then close it. Delete the gamedata.dbc and.dbd files in SHoC's local data. Download/Acquire a patch to whichever version you need (e.g 1.0004,1.0005).

Apply the patch, and ignore the error of it being unable ot find the readme. Search for where the patch installed on your computer, as it will not install to your steam, but to a THQ folder instead. Copy these contents, all of them, directly into the SHoC folder, and let them overwrite any files there. Start the game, and check if the version is set to the correct number!
