Upek Eikon Fingerprint Reader Software
Hi, I've got a Dell XPS M1330 notebook with integrated UPEK biometric fingerprint reader. The device itself is working fine, however the driver setup I've got at the moment isn't ideal. I can either use the driver provided by Windows Update, and this allows Windows to recognise the biometric device and I can use the Windows fingerprint logion functionality, but this is all. What I really want to do is use UPEKs' Protector Suite QL to enable the use of the biometric device to login to websites etc. If I use the driver provided by Windows Update, Protector Suite QL doesn't recognise the fingerprint reader installed. If I use the UPEK driver that allows the Protector Suite to work, Windows doesn't find any biometric devices installed - I can't find a suitable driver where both Windows AND Protector Suite QL recognise the biometric device. Has anyone a solution or a similar problem?
Eikon® Family of USB Fingerprint Readers The Eikon family of USB fingerprint readers provide quick. UPEK's Software. From UPEK Eikon Reader. UPEK Eikon is a swipe fingerprint reader with capacitive sensor and USB 2.0 connection. The scanner is no longer manufactured. Support modules for this.
I would like Windows to recognise the device to use the Windows biometric login, and Protector Suite QL to recognise he device to use the biometric website login. Alternatively I'd be happy not to use Protector Suite QL at all if there is a way to use the biometric device to login to websites native in Windows. If anyone has any advice or thoughts, it'd be great to hear them. Let me shed some light on this issue: There are currently two different types of UPEK applications (and drivers) available - a legacy app and a 'WBF' app. While the legacy application can be installed and used on any version of Windows including XP, Vista and W7 as well, the WBF application can be installed and used only on Windows 7 that supports the Windows Biometric Framework API. The main advantage of the WBF app/driver is that it is fully integrated with the W7 Windows Biometric Framework API.
Regarding the device drivers, the legacy driver supports only legacy applications whereas the WBF driver supports only the new 'W7 only' applications and of course the Windows Biometric Framework feature of W7 as well. Note that that the Protector Suite QL (5.6 or 5.8) is a legacy application so it requires a legacy driver to be installed in order to recognize the biometric device and to work properly. However, as described above, the legacy driver does not support W7 Windows Biometric Framework API so the Windows 7 cannot work directly with the device.
To summarize: The new WBF Protector Suite 2009 requires WBF driver to be installed and IS fully integrated with W7 biometric features. Free trial: The legacy applications like PS QL 5.6 or 5.8 and legacy Protector Suite 2009 as well require the legacy driver to be installed and are not integrated with the W7 Windows Biometric Framework API so the Windows 7 cannot work directly with the device. I've tried all of the listed Windows 7 drivers from the UPEK website, including the WinBio drivers which I thought would work fine with the native Window 7 biometric functionality, however trying the driver you've linked, the device name changes to 'TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode)' and although now recognised by Windows, UPEK Protector Suite QL doesn't recognise it! If I use the driver that does work with Protector Suite QL, the device is called 'TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor', but Windows doesn't recognise it! I can't believe this is the way it is supposed to work.
The My Digital Life link suggests that installing the driver from the UPEK website linked from their web page will mean the functionality gained is exactly what I'm after - i.e. The basic Windows 7 functionality as well as the Protector Suite QL advanced features, but when I install that driver, I only get it working with Windows, not the Protector Suite. It also says that the name of the device changes to 'TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBDI)'.
Emulator Nintendo Ds Apk more. No driver I have tried yet gives that name, so I'm unsure of what to do next. I looked at Dell's web site but didn't see anything driver wise although on UPEK's site I did see Protector Suite 2009 that is suppose to work as it didn't look like it would work with QL, their solution just pointed right back at Dell. However, have you tried online chat with Dell Support? Be curious as to what they have to say.
